TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. —
U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Derek Salmi hosted the Department of the Air Force Installation Commander’s Caucus at Travis Air Force Base for the first time, March 5 – 6, 2024.
The DAF CICC is a forum for Department of the Air Force installation commanders from within California to address compelling state and federal issues and quality of life constraints in an effort to collectively find resolutions benefitting military operations in California. The DAF CICC is held quarterly either virtually or in person.
Commanders and senior enlisted leaders from Edwards Air Force Base, Los Angeles AFB, Vandenberg Space Force Base, Fresno Air National Guard Base, Beale AFB and Travis AFB gathered at Travis AFB this week for the DAF CICC.
The leaders listened to briefings addressing issues including energy resiliency, cost of living issues, spouse licensure issues and others. One of the goals of the caucus was to prepare issues for the upcoming Governor’s Defense Leadership Summit in Sacramento in May.
At the end of the conference, attendees were received a tour of the Gonge Innovation Lab, a tethered drone demonstration, a tour of a KC-46A Pegasus aircraft and an aeromedical evacuation equipment demonstration, also on the KC-46A.
