Travis AFB hosted the first day of their ‘Wings Over Solano’ Air Show on March 16, 2024.

The event was attended by approximately 65,000 people and while detailed traffic plans were coordinated between base Security Forces and the Fairfield Police Department, traffic delays occurred causing large amounts of congestion and lengthy delays.

“We are grateful for the tremendous support we receive from the community and sincerely apologize to those we disappointed regarding access to the event,” said Brig. Gen. Derek Salmi, 60th Air Mobility Wing Commander. “We are actively reviewing possible ways to mitigate traffic for tomorrow’s schedule.”

The safety and security of both the attendees and the installation remains the highest priority.

“Our Defenders and Fairfield Police Department partners are doing everything they can to address these concerns,” said Salmi. “We appreciate everyone’s patience and hope to see you and your families come out for our second day.
