AFA presented its Berlin Airlift Veterans Association (BAVA) Humanitarian Airlift Mission of the Year to the 14th Airlift Squadron at the 2023 Air, Space & Cyber Conference. Gen. Mike Minihan, Commander of Air Mobility Command, presented the award to the 437th Airlift Wing Commander Col. Sam “Lurch” Todd, who accepted on behalf of his deployed squadron.
The 14th Airlift Squadron is assigned to the 437th Operations Group, 437th Airlift Wing at Joint Base Charleston, S.C. The squadron distinguished itself by exceptionally meritorious service in providing immediate humanitarian aid and disaster relief to Pakistan over seven days, executing 16 missions and transporting 20 million pounds of humanitarian supplies. The 14th flew the first U.S. mission into Begum Nusrat Bhutto Sukkur Airport since 2010, navigating an unfamiliar airspace and difficult airfield to provide lifesaving sustainment for 33 million Pakistanis.
Congratulations to all members of the 14th Airlift Squadron!
