Air Mobility Command continues to spread Warrior Heart culture, its efforts generating change which reverberates beyond AMC.

Gen. Mike Minihan, Air Mobility Command commander, has focused on three pillars–mind, body, and craft. Minihan has focused his energy and attention on ensuring Airmen are prioritizing their mental health on the same level as physical fitness or skill development.

Maj. Jane Marlow, a C-130J Super Hercules pilot and current leader of AMC’s Warrior Mental Health working group, sat down with Minihan recently to discuss with Minihan his efforts to eliminate stigma, lower barriers and increase access and options to support Airmen mental health. You can listen to that conversation here:

Marlow has championed warrior heart culture, both inside and outside of AMC. She recently spoke in-depth with Military One Source about some of the working group’s initiatives, which can be found here. Military Mental Health: It’s OK to Get Help.

AMC units, such as the 305th Air Mobility Wing at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, have also embraced the warrior heart mindset. They opened a Sean’s Room on October 10, 2023. Sean’s room is an effort to offer a safe peer-to-peer environment for personnel to receive mental health support and maintain confidentiality. Finally, AMC celebrated, along with the rest of the Air Force, the updated mental health waiver timeline in the Air Force’s Medical Standards Directory. The changed timeline encourages Airmen to seek treatment for mental health-related concerns earlier by allowing time for an adequate trial of treatment before a return to flight duty waiver is required.
